Around 100 people attended the latest Barn Meet in East Herts, to discuss issues affecting the rural community.
The event was hosted by the local Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) and took place at Dowsetts Farm in Colliers End, on Thursday (5 February).
It was supported by a host of partner organisations including the National Famers’ Union, the Country Land and Business Association, East Herts Council and Hertfordshire County Council.
Attendees heard inputs from the NPT and Rural Operational Support Team (ROST) before taking part in a Q&A session with Chief Constable Andy Prophet and Police and Crime Commissioner Jonathan Ash-Edwards.
Topics covered included fly-tipping, hare coursing and firearms licensing. There was also a demonstration from Datatag on security marking.
Sergeant David Miller, who organised the event, said: “Barn Meets allow for open and honest discussions between police, partners and the rural community about the issues that are causing the most concern. I’d like to thank those who attended for engaging with us and putting their views across. I’d also like to thank Dowsetts Farm for hosting.
“We’re dedicated to tackling rural crime and ensuring our communities feel heard and protected. From machinery and livestock theft to wildlife and heritage offences, we understand the significant impact these crimes have on farmers, landowners and rural businesses.”
