The winner of Hertfordshire Police and Crime Commissioner’s design a Christmas card competition has been announced.
The winning entry was created by Akira Bennatraj, aged 9, from Holyrood Catholic Primary School in Watford.
Akira submitted an image of Santa in a police car being towed by reindeer with the message ‘Merry Christmas – ‘Helping each other at Christmas is all you need to do’.
Last month PCC Jonathan Ash-Edwards launched a competition for the county’s children to design his Christmas card. Under 11s were invited to submit their designs along the theme of ‘helping people at Christmas’.
Almost 150 entries were received with Akira’s winning a prize of Amazon vouchers. Judging took place on Monday 2nd December 2024. Three runner-up prizes were also awarded to pupils from Chambersbury Primary School in Hemel Hempstead, Hurst Drive Primary School in Waltham Cross and Green Lane Primary School in Hatfield.
Jonathan Ash-Edwards said: “I am delighted that so many children took the time to enter this competition. The standard of entries was very high and I really enjoyed looking through them.
“It was a very tough decision to choose the winners but overall I decided that Akira’s card stood out from the rest.”
The winning card is now going to be used by the Commissioner to be his official Christmas card and sent to some of the most important figures in policing and community safety nationally as well as communities across Hertfordshire.
All winning entries will be posted on the Police and Crime Commissioner’s Facebook page.
