Hertfordshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner Jonathan Ash-Edwards is to ask about anti-social behaviour and rural crime at next week’s public holding to account meeting with the Chief Constable.
The Commissioner wants to know what the Constabulary is doing to tackle these issues, alongside how officers respond to those people in mental health crisis.
The public can watch the meeting between Mr Ash-Edwards and Chief Constable Charlie Hall via a webcast on Thursday 12th December at 10.30am. Attendees can register for the meeting at https://bit.ly/3VzzzEb.
The Commissioner will ask about how the Constabulary are tackling ASB through early intervention, problem solving, partnership working and the role of Neighbourhood Policing Teams. He will also scrutinise the use of statutory powers and legal orders that the police and partners can use.
He will also ask how Constabulary is improving its understanding of rural crime in Hertfordshire and how it is monitoring its response times to incidents in rural and isolated areas. As well as how they work with other police forces and with agencies on cross-border organised rural crimes.
Finally they will discuss how the Constabulary responds to calls about people in mental health crisis and the training and support that police officers have as first responders to such calls. An update on the implementation of Right Care Right Person in Hertfordshire will be given along with the amount of police officer time spent with patients in A&E hospital departments.
The Accountability and Performance Meetings will take place at Police Headquarters in Welwyn Garden City. A recording will also be available to view on the PCC’s website along with more details and previous recordings at hertscommissioner.org/apm.
