Bids to reduce domestic violence invited

In a bid to reduce domestic abuse those groups with ideas, products and services for use in perpetrator intervention projects are being asked to contact the office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Hertfordshire.

David Lloyd’s office are intending to submit a bid to the Home Office Domestic Abuse Perpetrator Fund to get financial support for projects to tackle this type of offending.

Prior to making the application to the fund any interested parties are being invited to complete a Request for Information (RFI) to highlight the activities they could offer.

Tackling Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) is a top Government priority.

These crimes can have lasting and severe impacts on the physical and mental health of victims, their families, communities and the economy.

According to the Crime Survey for England and Wales year ending March 2020, an estimated 2.3 million victims experienced domestic abuse in the last year. Whilst both men and women can be victims of VAWG crimes, they disproportionately affect women and girls.

To build on this work the PCC for Hertfordshire, alongside the PCC for Bedfordshire, are seeking to create a One Stop Referral and Triage Hub with the goal of eliminating the causes of domestic abuse (DA) in these two counties and generating intelligence about what works to identify, engage, and ultimately transform behaviour. The long-term ambition is for the Hub to become a nationally recognised Centre of Excellence in DA perpetrator provision.
